Introduction

The Alcester and District Local History society is one of many such societies to be found in the U.K. and elsewhere. For almost twenty years the society has produced a quarterly magazine 'The Local Past' edited  by Mr. G. Saville.

In 1998 the society was approached by Mr. Frank McAree the Information Technology Co-ordinator of Alcester Grammar School with a view to placing the content of these quarterly magazines on the school's Internet site. The society agreed to this in late 1998 and the two year project commenced in  October 1998.

In addition to the 'Local Past' magazine the society has also produced a large number of 'occasional papers' which delve deeper into some of the topics touched on in the magazine articles. In the second stage of this project it is hoped to add these to this site.

Unfortunately neither the society nor myself has the resources to answer detailed queries about the information within these pages , particularly those concerning family history.

Please note that this is an on-going project and will be continually up-dated as time allows. For technical reasons , usually image quality or size, some of the images scanned from the magazines have been omitted and on some pages , temporary 'place holder' images have been used.

If you have any records which you would like to donate to the society's archives or wish to submit an article for inclusion in a future edition of 'Local Past' please contact Alcester Grammar School and we will pass your message onto the society's committee
